The new "But I support the troops"

A couple years back, Democrats who didn't support the Iraq war effort always ended their protest with the phrase, "...but I support the troops." And now all you hear from Republicans is, "I don't support the stimulus (or budget, mortgage bailout, etc), BUT I want the president to succeed." They say this somewhat out of self interest, "if he fails, we fail." And also because they want to appear to support an incredibly popular president. And they may even believe it.

Well, I don't believe that. I think that it's admirable thing to say, but that outward face of solidarity is about disappear. I'd say we're about a week away from Republicans saying, "I don't support the president" ostensibly in one way or another that that want the president to fail. That's because the new budget is a killer of mass-murdering proportions.

I understand Obama thinks his mandate is to change the structure of capitalism; make government more a part of our lives as it was during the Depression, etc. He wants to be the tide that raises all boats.

But this is not going to happen the way he thinks. Some one's gotta pay. At first it's the rich, then it's the true "trickle down" to the not so rich, and the almost rich, and maybe down into the not rich at all (which depending on who you talk to, isn't "that far down" from the rich).

In any case, what it amounts to is a war on prosperity. Out with terror and in with prosperity. We had the Nazis, the VC, the Russians, Islamofascists, and now the Evil Prosperous! As soon as the super rich start dying, their estates drawn and quartered, no new rich will rise to take their place. And the upper middle class will disappear, some with a hard fall and some floating into the sunset.

But our children will never know wealth as we've known it. Prosperity as we know it will have been threshed out like husks from the rice. With apologies to Isaiah, "..the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cumin with a rod, the rich with taxes."

There is just absolutely no way; accomplishing what he wants is all way beyond the means of algrebra, calculus or physics. You can't try to refill a bucket while drilling an ever bigger hole in the bottom.

Obama is becoming a revoltin' development. An Obamination.

I cannot wait for 2012.
